Long Over Due Update

We have been very busy settling in to our new house.  The boxes are finally starting to get unpack and disappear and all of my toys have been found.  Since the weather has been nice almost every day, I have been going to one of the three parks at least once a day.  I am also starting to learn how to use the potty...bribes make this process a lot easier.  Lael continues to just lay around and eat, but now she is cooing and kicking in her bouncy chair.  I wish she would hurry up and start walking so we can play together.  Below are a few pics from the past few weeks.

Eamonn and Lael's New New Own House

Well, mama and papa just returned from California where they found us our very own, new new house in the hills above Laguna Canyon.  Mama likes the proximity to the beach (8 miles) and papa likes the proximity to the mountain bike trails (out the front door and down the road 1 mile).  Lael and I like the three pools, countless playgrounds, the close proximity to cousins we have never met, and the ability to ride my Rocket Obama Bike Race (aka, my new Skuut).  So Casa Douglas is open for visitors starting December 1st.

Two Years and Counting!

Few things are more coveted than chocolate and lollipops.  You stick these in the rear end of a paper Choo Choo Train and then beat it with a stick...well life becomes real good, real quick.  Watch the top of the screen for a fine display of determination for instant satisfaction that can only be obtained through chocolate.  I did not quite get the hoard as much candy as you can idea so I decided to go straight to the eating.

Big Week for Lael-e-Bug.

This past week was a big week for Lael-e-Bug.  She got to experience DC and USG government bureaucracy at it finest.  First we went to the DC Vital Records to get her Birth Certificate and then went to the Post Office to apply for her passport.  Then we had our first visit with the Ludecke's.

New New Own Rocket Obama Bike Race!

Note from Papa:  You really cannot make this stuff up.  Eamonn is convinced that his "New New Own Rocket Obama Bike Race" is what his new bike is called.  Last week we were on our way to the Hyattsville Cyclocross Race and were listening to NPR where they were talking about the upcoming elections and Eamonn latched on to "Rocket Obama".  After the race we went to REI to get Eamonn his first bike, a Skuut balance bike.  This was an early birthday present from Muki.  On the way home he started screaming Eamonn's New New Own Rocket Obama Bike Race!  Not sure if he plans on voting that way or not, but he is leaning left as of now.  He also got some new boots which he is rocking with the Dinosaur PJs.

The First Few Weeks...Everyone is Adjusting.

With the first doctor's appointment successfully behind us we started venturing out into the world.  Lael is not quite as fast as I am, but she will learn quick enough.  First on the agenda is a trip to the park, then some hanging out with Grandpa and Nanna (aka "Maana"), I have my own special words for certain people like Mutti (aka "Muki").  Then we had a double header of bike races this weekend...I love me some bike races.  I even made a new friend, Lance.  You can see some of the pics below.

At Stanton park.

Buddha Baby...Om Mani Padme Hum.

It worked...sound asleep. How do you like them apples?

See Papa, you need to take the Magadet (aka "Magnet") Screwdriver and insert it into your cranks,
then take the hammer to your wheels, followed by pumping up your tires.  Eamonn helps!

Do They Look Like Siblings?

With the million comments of who Eamonn looks more like...we now are trying to see how Lael is stacking up.  Below are shots of both shortly after being born.

Photo Montage of Lael's first 18 hours

So there is not a ton to do at the hospital with a new born compared to being at home with Eamonn, a very active 23 month old.  So, we have just been taking pictures, feeding, taking pictures, and changing a few diapers here and there.  Eamonn did come to meet her for the first time with his "Muki" and Opa.  Below are a few random shots over the past 18 hours.

Lovely Lady Lael Elizabeth....Mazel Tov!

Today, Wednesday September 26, 2012 at 12:34am, I decided to make my presence known.  Though we are not Jewish, I thought a day as special as this was as good as any, if not perfect.  I weighed a whole pound lighter (7.8) than my bro Eamonn, but I have him beat on the length by an entire inch topping out at 20 inches.  With these kind of numbers, I may just have the perfect foundation for an Under 23 National Champion in Cyclocross.  Look out Eamonn, your lil'sis will be gunning for your race bike as her pit bike.

Need I Say More?

As I continue to develop my style as a left-handed musician, I have uncovered a new way to play the electric guitar.  I actually play the guitar with my right hand, but I do it up side down and by wearing the shoulder strap below my waste makes me look so rock-n-roll.   Or is it the goggles that me look so rock-n-roll?

The Count Down.............to September 25th or Sooner.

I only have a few more weeks of this blog belonging entirely to me.  After the second Dougling is born then I am going to have to share some press and some print space with her.  I hope that does not mean everything turns pink!  Until then, let us embrace all that is me, Eamonn Anderson Douglas for another few weeks.

Always the goofball!  I am showing Henrik (on the left) and Viktor (on the right) some of my hip hop dance moves that I have learned on the mean streets of DC.

This is my mug shot after being reprimanded for stealing the toy Caterpillar from Henrik for the 32nd time that morning.  Henrik would put up a heck of a shout, but I often ended up with the toy for about 4 seconds, then papa would take it from me and give it back to Henrik.

You looking at me!

This hat will be great if it ever rains, until then Viktor and I are keeping our jobs as product testers for Patagonia.  This hat is graded for 378 consecutive gallons of water without leaking.  This was gallon 24, it never got old for Viktor.

Yeah, me and mama getting ready for a canoe ride.

The problem with these German digs, they do not come with a cup holder!

Out for a "put-put" in Opa's tin can.  It was a beautiful night and the lake was like glass.
